Karen Gunderson

MARGARET POMFRET: Art News: Karen Gunderson: December 1977

Limiting herself to a deep, soft, sky blue gently accented with green, violet, pink or white, Karen Gunderson has created on her tranquilly horizontal panels an infinite variety of eloquent cloud idioms. These cool, restful, swirling masses portray the many facets of celestial formations. Whether it is the burbling of highlighted cumulus clouds, the burgeoning of a single nimbus, or the coagulating of an oncoming thunderhead, all are rendered sensitively with a elegant economy of paint. A lovely show. (Gloria Cortella Gallery)
